999 DI problem
« on: May 14, 2014, 03:19:10 AM »
Hello! Been lurking and learning for awhile before purchasing my 999 with an iLink Terrova. I have had the boat out several times trying to learn how to use this equipment. Besides not sure what to have my SI settings on for optimal performance I am having an issue with the DI. It seems to work fine on every speed setting I put it on except for 2mph. For some reason my screen shows pixels/snow overlaying the display from top to bottom. Anyone else have this issue or have an idea why or what it's caused by? Brand new unit and is frustrating since 2mph would be my most used setting.

Welcome to the Humminbird Side Imaging Forums Magnumruger.

Is this the boat moving at 2 mph or the Chart Speed set at “2”?
What setting are you using for the Sharpness menu?

Try using either a different Chart Speed menu setting or turn the Sharpness menu “Off” when using a Chart Speed of “2” when viewing the DI sonar.  This is a known software issue that the Engineers are working on.

Thanks for the reply. Boat is moving 1.5-2mph and the chart speed is set at 2 when this occurs. It only happens when the chart speed is set at 2...it's no present when set at any other setting. Sharpness is set on low. When this occurs it's like a dot matrix overlaying the data...it doesn't look like random "snow/static"

Yep, that's the same problem.  Try the different menu settings until they get this fixed through software.

I have this problem on an 899 unit with latest software. Mine however does it with chart speed 2-5. I have this unit on kayak and 2 is optimum chart speed for me......I can get by using 1 but hope this gets fixed soon.
