Title: Side and down imaging not working
Post by: Walleye_Rob on June 18, 2018, 09:02:05 AM
I purchased a used 997 for $200 and was told upon purchase the side imaging was not working. Being a seasoned Hummingbird user and having a 998, 898, and 958 I figured I could get it to work as the guy I bought it from was less experienced and said he knew nothing about them (I figured he had bad settings or something). When I finished installation and tested the unit the down and side imaging screens do not display. In simulation mode they look fine. During testing I did a full reset in case it was a setting and had no luck. I also swapped transducers (from my other boat) and it still did not work so I am certain its not a transducer issue. I have the transducer located where I had the exact same transducer with a different head in the past that worked fine so has to be an issue with the unit itself. Has anyone had an issue with the side and down imaging not showing anything? When I put the transducer in a 5 gallon bucket with water it did faintly show something and in shallow water it faintly shows a line for bottom, but you have to turn all the settings up and block the sun to see it. My other units clearly show everything. Would a software update be the culprit? I am going to check the software version next and see if there are updates available. I seen another thread where it looked like someone had the same problem, but the replies seemed to be aimed at the transducer and there appeared to be no resolve.

Verifying if there is an update available would be the best option at this point because the 997 is no longer serviceable  ...
