Title: Few Questions
Post by: getthenet20 on May 08, 2010, 09:09:22 PM
I was looking into buying a new Humminbird and I'm not sure which unit I need. I was looking at the 898c SI and the 998C SI. I'm not an expert at these but is there a very big difference between the two. I noticed that the 998c SI is and inch larger than the 898. When I do buy one is there any accessories that I need to buy(Navionics card, memory card, pc cable, etc.)? Also I have a Alumacraft V165 and without a jackplate, will that be a problem when I install the transducer? I was looking for a ram mount also and not sure which one would be the best. So I'm still trying to get more information before I buy one so anything at all would be great.
Thanks.

The 898 and 998 are pretty much the same!  The screen size is really the only significant difference!

had mine installed on friday, and when i got back to the lake it was storming and all day yesterday the wind was gusting in the mid 30's, so i did not go out.  i put the boat on the water for about 5 minutes this morning just to see if it worked. from what i saw it was pretty much unbelievable.  It was mothers day and i had to get home, can,t wait to go back. i have the 898 and it is on aluminum fisher marine deep v.  The 898 seemed to be big enough. got it for 1340 delivered.
