System Settings when tow fish deployed
« on: April 16, 2011, 09:26:20 AM »
Hello All,   Aside from information displayed on unit screen and those that post usually note 455 or 800. When everyone posts SI bottom images,  I would like to know what all the settings that were used in a scan. A picture of the screen settings are helpful.  Items Like contrast, sensitivity, sharpness, chart speed  etc the settings you don't see on the screen.   Also, what length of cable was used based on depth and boat speed.  Maybe someone could create a screen that could be imported into the message screen that the user can fill in the blanks.  Does this make any sense. It would save a lot of time experimenting.  Also, how many have experienced differences in scan when there is  thermocline
present?

Mark,

I recognize your wishes, but some of the settings you mention are not critical because most images presented here come from viewers and are not screen captures from the units. Images from viewers, like Humviewer and SiView, which have much better resolution than screen captures, are not affected by instrument settings of contrast, sensitivity, sharpness, scroll speed etc, they show the raw recording without any after processing. That's why the only critical and reported info is about frequency, cable length, towfish/transducer altitude and speed.

Regards,
Rickard

hi angel
to complete that rickard said
with towfish whe have the same problem than sonar, gosht image, thermocline and surface return, biological thing, and whe use the same parametters about depht under transducer.
a good scan is compilation of speed boat, target position, and first selected parameters about scale, sensitive and other
if you have good picture on unit, you must have a verry verry good picture on viewer ;)
