Helix 5si
« on: April 01, 2015, 01:08:12 PM »
Hey guys , ive just bought a helix 5 si ... Annd havin trouble with transducer .we've moved it twice and changed the ratchet washers from 1-4 twice . (Measured transom down 12" and it was 3-3/8". ) sitting in water tied up nothing running except fish finder .i have gotten a bottom reading just one time .  Changed angle of transducer in every position possible . Any help would be greatly appreçiated . Also ,the used boat i have is a 2001 procraft 180 combo . It already had a in hull transducer installed. Would it be ok to plug that in a try it? I know it wont pick up side or down scan. But i wud like to see that the sonar does work . Thank you

Welcome to the Humminbird Side imaging Forums Chris.

If your boat is sitting in the water with nothing running and you are not getting a bottom reading than something is not right for sure.  Your transducer installation may not be optimal (won’t know until we get the 2D sonar reading) but you should be getting a bottom reading sitting still.  Yes, if the in-hull (inside-the-hull?) transducer will plug into the HELIX 5 SI-GPS unit then try it and see if you get better results.  The only way to know whether the problem is in the unit or the transducer is to test with another unit and/or transducer.  Let us know your results please.

Try Restore Defaults under the Setup tab ...

If that doesn't help ... Cross test with the other xducer like Greg mentioned ...

Still no go ... HB 1-800-633-1468

I have an existing transducer in hull of boat i just bought . It is a humminbird , but it has 7 pins instead of 5 like on my new helix 5 si . Was wanting to get a splitter cable like the AS SIDB Y . Does anyone know if it will hook up to the 7 pin cable from the in hull ? Thank you

See if you can read the xducer model number printed on the cable about 1ft from the connector end ...

If you have not tried it already, do so and let us know back.  It could be one of the 3D transducers we used to make or it could be that they had to use a cable with seven pins in it as we were out of the original cable.  If it works, its the latter and if it doesn't then it really doesn't tell us anything.  It would be best if you could test on someone else's boat that has a working Humminbird unit with a transducer that the HELIX 5 unit will plug in to.
