I would stick with the 5.210 if I were you. I did the update and now my screen flashes when I try to switch views, and a minute ago, it just shut down and restarted twice for no reason while I was changing views.  I need a copy of the older 5.210 software for my 898 if you know of a place I can get it. I have a tournament coming up this weekend and I really need to get this 5.410 "update" off of my unit before I go. Thanks!

dustlane,
You should be able to find the 5.210 software for the 898 unit on this web site.  Look here:

Do you have your 898 connected with another unit?
Have you recently loaded any waypoints from another brand unit or from a program such as GPSBabel?

Using 210 and Lakemaster WI 1.0.2 with Countour Elite. Warm-boots while switching views, esp. trying to get back to the Chart on my 898 now occurs after a perfectly good operating unit was impacted by an SD card that had a "matrix" folder update that contained new hwr and ht files imported from Contour Elite software. WI Lake chip was left installed, per CE directions, and defaults were not set as a result. New waypoints and routes imported fine during the update but after about ten strokes on the View or Exit keys, restart occurs without loss of panel lighting (warm-boot). I noticed that any previous actions of menu selection are disengaged after warm boot; if I turned off a view, it was back on after the reboot. New files in matrix were the only change--six of them--named properly.

tambrose76,
First thing I would do is update the software in your unit to the current 5.500 software.  If that does not help than try deleting the data you imported from the Contour Elite program and see if it straightens up or not.  I have heard a few reports of tracks and routes imported from this program causing problems with our units.
