Due to the depth of some of our lakes here in Kentucky, we decided to build a towfish for our 1197c. Check out the pics. We have approximately $15.00 invested[attachment=1][attachment=2]

The towfish looks great! How are you going to mount the transducer to it?

We plan to drill a 1" hole just behind adjustment rail and depending on balance another on the underside. We will temporary the transducer on the underside to check for placement and balance.

Looks great!
Drilling a 1" hole? Sounds like you want to use a break through transducer.
I used a transom mount transducer and placed it at the very end of the fish using the original mounting hardware (bracket and everthing).

I think you would have enough space on your fish as well to go for this option.
Keep us posted and all the best from Germany!

Harry:
Could you send me a pic of your fish in full battle dress. At this point we have a fish but transducer placement, cable length and other factors we need to consider, are still open to initial testing. All input on this forum is being carefully evaluated. With everyone's help we are hoping to alleviate the amount of testing any new fish must endure or more to the point, We have to endure.
Thanks for all the help on this forum. We will keep everyone apprised of our progress.
