Contour lines on Sardis Lake, MS
« on: March 02, 2013, 11:02:09 PM »
I just purchased a 798ci HD SI that has I'm told Contour XD pre-installed.  I was hoping to see contour lines on Sardis lake, but I only get the lake shore outline on my screen.  Can anybody tell me if Sardis, Enid, and Grenada Mississippi lakes have depth (contour) data in the Contour XD map?  Is there a setting I don't have on?  If not, do the Navionics maps contain any contours?  I'm really disappointed that the unit doesnt show any detail of my favorite lakes :(

Look on the ContourXD lake listing on the Humminbird web site:
http://store.humminbird.cust.shopatron.com/media/document/ContourXDMapLakeList.pdf

You will have to check the Navionics web site to see if those lakes are in their high definition or not.

I live in North Mississippi and Navionics the only way to go. I wanted to purchase Lakemaster but they don't have Sardis, Enid and Grenada.

Went to Sardis Wednesday and there are no contour lines shown on the Contour XD map on my 998c si. Just an outline of Sardis lake. Tried turning every mapping option on with no results. Navionics is the only option. Lakemaster South East map chip doesn't have any of the Mississippi reservoirs: Arkabulta, Sardis, Enid, Grenada or Ross Barnett.

Yes, my wife's mother is from Batesville and we have many friends and family members in Batesvile. Heading to Sardis Friday if this wind will stop blowing 20 mph.

One more thing I did not mention. When buying a Navionics South map card if you can find an older version, 2008 or older you will be a lot better off than with the 2010 or newer cards. The contour lines are much better on the 2010 or newer because it is a HD lake but a lot of info like roadbeds, foundations, fish attractors, old ponds, etc. have been removed from the newer cards.
