Helix 10 gen 2n mega si network with a helix gen 1
« on: April 13, 2020, 06:09:30 PM »
Thinking of adding a new Helix gen 2n mega si unit to the system. Currently have a Helix 10 gen 1n si unit and wondered if it will still read si (regular frequency not mega) on nose. I can use my ultrex mega di transducer if not but would like to occasionally see si from the back of the boat up front. I also have a gen 2n chirp unit that I could use. It is my spare now. thanks in advance for the info.

All CHIRP must be shut off the G2N unit in order to share any sonar thru Ethernet to a G1  ... this kinda dumbs down the G2N  ...

The G2N can be connected to the Ultrex MDI if the Connected Transducer selection shows an option for “Built in HW + MDI”  ... (but then your SI G2N would lose SI)  ...

It is not recommended to connect the G1 to the Ultrex MDI because the G1 transmits 83kHz/200kHz which the HW piezo in the Ultrex MDI can be damaged by the higher power 83kHz transmit from the G1  ...

Thank You rnvinc! Exactly what I needed. Since bass pro has the g2n mega si on sale, I think I will just get that and be content with the mega di from the ultrex, up front and have mega si and di on the console with the added benefit of bluetooth. Either sell the g1 si or keep as a spare for futute use.

OK lucked out and got in on the reduced gen 2 helix 10 msi reduced at bps. I will likely keep my gen 1 si unit as a backup. I hope to link my helix 10 gen2 chirp di with my new unit through the network box. thanks again for all your input.
