Download Data Error in Humminbird PC
« on: August 05, 2013, 09:10:18 PM »
Hello,

New to this board.

I am trying to download my waypoints into  Humminbird PC. When I am in Humminbird PC and try to download them I get a download data error, and thus it downloads no data into Humminbird PC.

I have exported all the data from my unit onto a SD card.

I am running windows 8 with the most  recent Humminbird PC download.

Anyone know why this is?

Thanks

Bryan

Most current HBPC version is 4.3.8.
What software level is your 997 running?

Did the 997 confirm that it's export of the navdata successfully completed?

If so, the SD-card should have a MATRIX folder containing DATA.HWR and possibly numerous nnn.HT files.  Can you confirm this by looking at your SD-card?
The DATA.HWR file contains all HB waypoints and routes.  Each nnn.HT file contains one HB track.(000.HT, 001.HT, etc).

Sorry I didn't see this post until today.

Running version 5.840 on my 997 c si

Running version   4.3.7 on HBPC

Running windows 8 on my pc

It confirms export, I see the proper files data.hwr and 001.ht to 007.ht files in the matrix folder.

When I click on them windows asks to search for a program to open these files.

Thanks for your help

Insert your SD/MMC card which you exported your navdata from the HB unit.
Start HumminbirdPC.
Click on the Computer Icon in the upper left to display your GPX files.
On the SDcard Icon you will see 3 arrows.
Blue(center) is for download from SD/MMC to PC, left-click it and you will download.

HBPC will create a file called SD_yymmddx.GPX, you can right-click it and re-name it.
I re-name example: LakeFork_yymmddx.gpx.
x is a, b, c, . . . if you download multiple times on same day.

Green(left) arrow is upload from PC to SD/MMC.

Or you can select File--> Download(or Upload).

If you left-click the SDcard Icon you will see SD/MMC info and you can create personalized text to display on your unit's start-up screen like name, address, phone, etc...

Current HBPC software level is 4.3.8

I have a 1197 and 998.

The 1197 software 5.840 introduced Waypoint Management System and had a few bugs.  It did not stabilize until 6.310 for the 1197 came out.  6.310 also had quite a few new features added.

When I download from the SD/MMC card you have to ignore the HBPC percentage-loaded.
My download can display 1500%. . .

What is the error message?

Maybe?

5.840 software on your unit is Waypoint Management System capable.
Did you create WMS Groups on your unit?

Maybe install HBPC 4.3.8 which is the most current at this time.

My 997 has waypoint management software, it exports to sd with no problems.

I appreciate your help Gazzo, you must be the only one that uses Humminbird PC doesn't seem like a lot of people use it.

Pretty shotty product support for this program from Humminbird if you ask me.

I got a ton of waypoints Id like to edit, for me to do it from my unit would probably take 2 weeks.

Do you have your Navdata(waypoints, routes, tracks) in Groups on your unit?
I see you have waypoints and about 7-8 tracks.

Where all the waypoints and tracks created on and by the 997?
Any third-party data?

Let's try Gpsvisualizer:

Go here: http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/gpsbabel/
Setup like this:

Then click to Convert File. If all goes good, then download the new Lowrance USR file to your PC.
Now in HBPC open this downloaded file: Open(File --> Open), and set file-type to Lowrance(USR, LOW) types, then browse and find.

Let me know.

Some waypoint, route or track  might be corrupted on your 997.  So maybe look for that on your unit.

Also an explaination on us attempting to us Lowrance USR type:

If Gpsvisualizer/Gpsbabel can create this USR file, then when HBPC opens and converts the USR to GPX data, I'm assured that all the data has been verified and created by HBPC.

Then we will have to do the tracks.

Another solution would be to delete all the nn.HT files from the SD/MMC card, then attempt to download into HBPC.  Maybe a track is corrupted.

Then re-export from the 997, then delete the data.HWR file from the SD/MMC card, then attempt to download into HBPC.  Maybe a waypoint or route is corrupted.

Now do not lose any navdata!!!  But all navdata should still be on the 997.

One more:

Also on your PC, look into the default Documents/My_HumminbirdPC/GPX_Files/ folder to see if any SDxxxxxxxx.GPX files are being partially created.

Gazzo,

Waypoints and routes are off a 997 c si and 788 c combo unit

no groups

some of those waypoints in the past may have come off a lowrance unit and been converted over

some gpx files were partially created

How did you know I have 7 or 8 tracks?

One track = One .HT file
Normally 000.ht, 001.ht, 002.ht = 3 tracks.
And sorry, but only by the order in HBPC and by order of nn.ht can you MAYBE GUESS which matches to what.

You need to know the total number of waypoints on your unit so you can verify you will have them all in HBPC if we ever get them downloaded.  Did the any partial download contain all your waypoints and maybe some of the routes & tracks?

So does the 788 export navdata and download into HBPC OK?

Only problem is the 997 navdata?
Try the above solutions.
