1198c si wont see transducer when networked with 898c si
« on: May 23, 2011, 06:42:59 PM »
I hooked my new 1198 up today, used the GPS that came with each so I have 2 on a custom T-top braclet. Exported all my waypoints on SD and uploaded to the 1198 so we are good there.
Problem-the 1198 will not show or recognize the transducer from the 898
Network is on and I see the Icon for it. Share waypoints is active. Any ideas on what to look for? The 898 reads fine, nothing on the 1198

Set-up= each headunit uses its own GPS-Single transducer connected to the 898, Ethernet cable connecting the two units together.

Any ideas?

I clicked on the Ethernet tab...Looked under sonar and the 1198 isnt seeing the 898. Is there a process? Re: have to start the 898 (transducer attached to that unit) let it fully start up and then turn the 1198 on? I have two GPS receivers each uses the one that was provided. Only thing I need to share is the sonar/si

As far as l know....Works with my units  1197/898.....Turn both on ...Go to each unit and tick what unit you want to do what...Is the 898 updated with the latest software 5.500 ? As the 1198 is a newer unit it most likely came with the latest software but maybe the 898 hasnt got it.  Also my units take about a minute to" see " each other

yes, the 898 has the latest update. I called HB this morning and was told: On the 1198, go to the sonar screen, push the power button and from the menu turn the sonar "off" so the 1198 will use the 898 transducer instead of looking for one to be connected directly to the 1198. I will try that later today, might give me an excuse to jet outa my shop and get on the water!! Hope it works though, the 1198 is like watching TV the screens so big. I was also told it doesnt matter the order in which the units are started, and do not have to wait for the 898 to fully load before the 1198 should recognize the ethernet.
