is piranha max 20 tranducer compatable to use on 798 hd si
« on: April 10, 2013, 02:45:33 PM »
was thinking of trying to use my 798 both in the front and back of boat with the si tranducer in the back. then try and use old piranha max 20 trans. up front. (tranducer XHS-9-20-T)
it has built in temp and is 20 deg. and 60 deg. coverage. wondering if it would work ????

It will work but you will not get any Si or Di sonar readings from it.
Be sure to change the Transducer Select menu setting when you connect it to this transducer.  Depending on the software version you are using you will have to use the “Dual Beam” or “Quad Beam” menu setting.

thanks very much greg for the quick reply. thats great that it will work, but i knew the si and di wouldn't work with transducer. I figured id use the si and di while motoring around then move head unit up front to fish. now i just need another head mount for front.

Make sure that you get the one for the 700E series units crappiejigger.  It’s the MS-700E

(shop around for better pricing).
