Title: understanding groups beter
Post by: haggen29 on August 08, 2018, 07:17:44 AM
I trying to understand how and what groups are for, I have made different groups to try to reduce the clutter on my helix 9. but all the groups show the waypoints in home, which show up on my screen. I made one group default, but that appears to update just that group not just show the just those waypoints in that group on the head unit?

I fish mainly in saltwater, but would like to set up different areas like as groups, and not have to change SD cards that have different GPX files (saltwater is not good).
I would like to have all my waypoints and switch between the groups on the fly on the head unit. Because i travel from the different areas daily, but due to the quantity of waypoint the clutter is to much.

Thanks for any help

I use groups to organize waypoints by lake and then by cover/structure.

Lake1_
          |_Points
          |_Humps
          |_Docks
          |_Blowdowns
Lake2_
          |_Points
          |_Humps
          |_Docks
          |_Blowdowns
etc.

This allows me to organize/export/import waypoints by Lake or cover/structure type.  It also allows me to hide and show waypoints in large number by hiding or showing all of the waypoints in in a group (lakes in my case).

thanks for the help, i just figured out how to hide or make the groups visible (highlight group then edit) , this is a just what i was looking for. weird thing the waypoints are still there on the nav map you just cant see them when hidden, bad for me because i have a lot of way points in those areas.  I move the cursor to the next waypoint which stops on the hidden ones, oh well it does help clear up the screen.
