Yes, check the search tab at the top and look at what has been previously posted..
Not sure of fixes and such but somethings relate to code upgrades or downlevel issues.
This has occured over several models..

blaze 226,
Try saving all of your waypoints, tracks and routes (aka: Nav Data) to an SD memory card and than to your computer via HumminbirdPC.  Than delete all of the Nav Data from your 798ci unit and see if it still happens.

I just bought my unit April, 12 2012 . It started cutting off the next day. I contacted humminbird & they said to get a new unit . He said the keypad was probley bad since it was so new . I wanted to make sure it wasn't a wiring issue or something simple to fix. Thanks for the input & the great info on this forum.

HB support is probably right especially if new.  there were some keyboard (button) issues.
Can you return for a fix?

Gotcha Blaze – I did not know that it did this from the beginning.  Sounds like it could be a keypad or internal keyboard issue that will need to be fixed.

If HB wants it back then send it.  they know the issues with the button.
Also if you search on the forum you will find posts to suport flacky keypads..

Mostly they are good but there was some problems a while back..
Call support and get return authorization.  They should pay for the shipping..
