No you cannot view your recordings like  you can youtube.  You can view your recordings on Humviewer, Yellowfin, and SIview.  You can find the information on these programs on this site.

The HumViewer program can actually create video output of your recordings (in .avi and .mov format).

mrj or anyone.  I saw a small clip of a humviewer movie.  Anyone got a longer movie link?  Durn that would be cool if we could post video clips like a movie.  I'd be halfway dangerous ;)

You could always play back the video to a capture device hooked up to the computer.  Then upload to youtube!  You can get them pretty cheap off the net or Best Buy!

Robert,  This is what I wanna do.  I have a 1197SI.  What is the process to do this?  Pretty sure I will need a cord to connect from 1197SI to video camera.  Or if I save it to a SD card can I export it that way?  Cookbook lessons would be nice here :)

Thanks Lou :).  Looks like these guys are pretty high tech :)

Ok it's really simple. Go to target or wallmart and buy a card reader. Get one that works with other media cards..As well as your SD card in the humminbird.. That way  you can use it to down load your other camera cards with it. Cost should be under 20 bucks. Plug it into your puter with the sd card from humminbird in it that you recorded on. Puter will prompt you what to do. After the video is on your puter you can open it with humviewer you can then view it and  can upload the file to u tube. Good luck.

I can do the card reader thing no problem.  But what I want to do is this and possibly clearer/crisper.

I'm under the impression that humviewer gives me this.

You can make a movie with HumViewer.

Just open a recording with HumViewer, and select the 'File' menu -> 'Make movie'. A dialog is shown where you select which time range you want the movie to me created for. After that another dialog is shown where you select whether you want it created in .mov or .avi format.
It takes a while to make the movie, but when all dialogs are removed it should be done.

You might need to download the correct codec files before it works. I downloaded a codec pack called 'K-Lite Codec Pack' and that worked for me.

The 998/898 manual says the Video Output outputs to a NTSC remote monitor.

So, what information would be going to that monitor?  I assumed the same video as being displayed on the control head.

Whatever you see on the 998 screen, you will see on the monitor as well!

Hmmm, interesting.

So with a 12 volt monitor and a video cable, I could see some SI/DI information at another location of the boat without one of these units, say at the TM.

Nice.

Right stymie!
Either at your trolling motor for fishing or if you want to do under water sight seeing tours for the passengers of your boat / ship.  ;D
