Even though the manual does not state the maximum temperature range, it is an easy assumption that the units are built to take all temperatures that are natural to outdoor water conditions.

There are a lot of folks using HB and other units for ice fishing.

Hi,
I have used a 981 in -25 degrees Fahrenheit (-32 Celsius). The display didn't freeze, but cables got very stiff.
