Before leaving today I got a few shots to try and get DI to come in better in deeper water. I also found that this made the SI view change as well.
This shot was DI in 200 only 14 11 off
200 15 10 off
DI 83khz SI - 13 11 off
200/83 14 07 off
DI 200/83 14 07 off and after tweeking SI some. better detail in SI IMO, starting to pull out the rocks...not best just better.
Going up on the Sen. made the rocks in SI come out better it seems and the DI looked better to me with 200/83 14 07 setting at that depth. SI was set to 855 but when the changes to DI was made I noticed that it degraded the SI shot. This means IMO that if changes are made with DI you will then have to flip over and tweek SI some. It seems that unless all settings are just right, I can see why so many say they can not get snapshots like those posted.
When in SI screen only I got some nice snapshots of another bridge after playing with the setting. Learning this DI/SI screen is a bugger.
The reason I'm testing deeper water now is that soon the crappie will move deep to standing timber and drops. I want to get the settings right when attempting to find them. The test I've done in shallower water has already produced slabs and tomorrow I will go up in the river channels and see how these new settings do on deep timber.
Hope this helps some who are having problems, just keep working with those settings but I find that other factors (settings in other screens) also play a part. Anyone with some better info or tips I sure would like to hear from ya.
