Just a thought
I do not believe there is a way to adjust the altitude and believe it would be a benefit to lake fishermen. The depth of the lake I fish varies week to week. I pool level which the depths are based on is 1479 above sea level and the altitude level yesterday was 1463, 16 feet different.
If I could set the Altitude level to zero then I could tell instantly the difference which would indicate how I should fish.
Any thoughts

If you are only going on the depth changes to tell you how to fish then you would be better off looking for active fish on your Humminbird unit. Where I fish our depth changes frequently but the active fish can usually be found 18 feet deep, near some sort of structure.

I do use my bird to look for fish, but I also use the water level to start looking.

Did not think you were, I always appreciate your comments.
My thoughts are that the water movements effects how the fish move in and out of shallow water. When I light up my unit I look at the altitude and try to remember it from the last trips. I am going to start writing it down. We also have a few unmarked areas (like most waters) that are dangerous and easy to run aground. If the altitude could be set at Zero, then when we are 16 feet low, it would create a quick visual of conditions.
Like I said it is just a thought to make it easier to visualize.

I understand and it makes sense. My home lake does not have much flow in it. It is a flood control resivoir so only on windy days and early spring after hard rains do we get flow. I love the windy days no matter how cold. Easier to find fish ;D
