Title: Networking 898c si units
Post by: d.sonnenburg on March 07, 2014, 03:55:32 PM
Hi, I am looking into networking 2 hummingbird 898 units together. Can I just buy a cable and connect them or what do I need to link these units? Thanks!

You will need is an AS-EC-XXE cable in the appropriate length (the “XX” gets replaced with the cable length in the part name: AS-EC-2E is a 2-foot cable, AS-EC-15E is a 25-foot cable).

You will need to check the software versions on both units too as some software versions will not communicate.  If both are the same than no problems but if they are different there could be a problem and you will have to upgrade at least one of them to get them to communicate.

Thanks! I also have one more question. If I have a lake master chip in one unit, will I be able to see the lake master maps on both units or just the one with the chip in it?

Only the one with the card in it will be able to use that map....There is no map sharing with HB except with the new ONIX.......
