I just realize there is tow simulator mode on the 798 unit.
if you use the unit at home without the xducer and let boot it without doing anything is goes into DEMO mode. On this demo there is very few fish.
But, when you boot the unit back again AND you choose manually DEMO on the startup menu, you should see 6x more fish and nice arch.
I can see nice Fish ID+ icon ;D

If you turn on Demonstration mode under the Setup tab in the Main menu ...and then let the unit boot up with no xducer attached ... You will get to see the demo mode that is playing in the big box stores on the store shelves...(with overlayed explanations of the different features in the unit as the demo is playing)...
But seriously...you are correct there are 2 Simulator modes in the unit...
In the "Forced Simulator" mode (choosing Simulator from the popup after Menu is pressed at startup)...any and all settings changes will be saved into the unit memory...waypoints and routes can even be saved in this "Forced Simulator" mode...(just be sure and power off the unit with the power button to accomplish a full sequential shutdown)...
In the "Demo Simulator" mode...no changes to the unit will be saved after shutdown and restart...(this is so big box stores can shut the demo unit off and on and the demo unit will be right back to factory defaults) ...
