I´m thinking of upgrade to SI. I´m searching for walleyes from 0-30 ft and water depths from 35 to 300 ft.
How will the SI show with 45 ft side range and water depth 300 ft? Will it show the bottom contour and water column or just the water column?

Lajo1976,Should work well, I use my 1198 with a TM transducer in 250 to 350 feet of water all the time fishing.

With the Si Range set to 45 feet while in 300 feet of water, the Si sonar will only be displaying a portion of the water column but no Si sonar returns from the bottom since it is 300 feet away and the unit is only set to display to the 45 foot distance.

So does that mean that you se only 45 ft of water directly beneath the transducer, or do you see 45 ft right and left also?

You see 45 feet right, left and under the transducer. Basically you are seeing everything in a 45 foot arc from the transducer.
