Title: Howdy from Georgetown Texas
Post by: paul-in-texas on May 23, 2011, 11:44:53 AM
I have really enjoyed reading the topics in this forum.
Haven't yet received my 898, should be delivered today.
It will be installed on my 1956 model Lonestar 14' Aluminum boat.
I built a bracket that moved the motor 4" aft of the transom believing that will give
me clearance for the SI feature.
I am eagerly anticipating searching my local lakes for new structures and fish.
Thanks to all who have provided information here.
cheers,
Paul

Paul,
You will need at least 6 inches of clearance between the lower unit of the motor and the transom so that the Si sonar of the HDSi transducer will not be blocked.  Hope there was already at least two more inches of clearance between the motor and transom or you will need to trim the motor up some way.

I am sure you may have checked the forum gallery for installations but if you havent then do so by all means. A lot of guys have put pictures in referencing location and motors, jackplates etc..
You may get some helpful ideas here.
