Was in an area with floating grass. Saw lots of spots on right side, DI, and Sonar, but little to nothing on the left SI.  Didn't seem to matter which direction I was going.  The transducer is mounted on the right side but below motor and I can see the bottom contours clearly on the left SI.  Current software installed. It could be interference I guess but I looked all over this site and all the interference pics I saw looked nothing like what I am seeing. The spots I see are all smaller but different sizes and shapes and pretty bright so I'm pretty sure its not bubbles.  In fact, at first I thought it was small fish.  The only thing I see is that the transducer may be slightly tilted but no more than 1/32 higher on the right side. Anyway, sorry there are no pics, haven't even had a chance to buy an sd card for it yet, but any help would be great.

I should add that all settings where default.  The only thing I changed was the color to blue.

Can you post some screenshots..??

(Maybe even from both "real world" and from the "Simulator" mode...)

Did you trim the motor out a little that might help with the prop wash causing bubbles.
Just one last cast.

Testing your 998c Si unit on another boat that is running a Humminbird Side Imaging unit (any model will do) will also show whether the problem is in the unit or on your boat (transducer or transducer placement).

Buy an SD card and show us some Screen Snapshots of this.

I bought an SD card that day but haven't been able to get back to the water.  Hopefully tomorrow.  I don't think it's a non functioning unit because I could see stuff on the bottom.  The more I think about it, the more I think it may have just been the motor needing trimmed but we'll see. I do appreciate the help.  Stand by...

I've noticed that mine does not show as well on the left either in shallower water... less than about 8 foot,, the left side shows less..

ducer is level,, and the engine on my boat isn't in the way..

ClemsonBloz, are you certain that the motor (or something else) is not blocking any of the left Si sonar?  Not seeing as much to one side when in shallow water is a classic symptom of having a partially blocked Si sonar beam.

Try testing your unit on someone else’s boat that is running a Humminbird Si unit (any model will work) and try their unit on your boat and see what the results are.

I have a G3  185 aluminum bass boat,, and my ducer is mounted on the right side of the boat,, basicly where the ducer for the humminbird that came on the boat was mounted by the mfg... I eyeballed the engine while trimmed down during the install,, and it didn't appear to be in the way,, but it might be..  I'm not planning on mounting another transducer and re-mount the SI unit,, so I'll just live with it..

I had pretty crappy luck with humminbird units in the past,,, I had a 200 series start speaking french and reading in meters after 10 hours, a tx400 that did a ton of random stuff,, and a tx 300 that had a display that just died..

I took a lowrance LC339 sonar/gps unit off of my console and mounted it on my trolling motor,, basicly because I couldn't get any updated map cards for it... The lowrance is a super good mid level color unit..

Super happy with this unit,, and the info on this board is awesome.. ok,, no more thread hijacking..
