How do you get the water temperature on the screen

I cut the transducer cable and replaced it with a new one   The same kind it worked before but not now it's a 898cSI. I change to a 899 c SI and the temperature came on I put the 898 on another boat and still not working

*Press Menu twice to get into the Main Menu System ...
*Cursor over to the Setup tab ...
*Cursor down to "Select Readouts" ...
*Set one of the data boxes to Temperature ...

The Temperature choice is only available in Normal Operation mode (not in Simulator) ...

Rickie thanks  I try it still not working I try it on another boat still doesn't work I called humminbird and they told me to try to upgrade right now I have 6.640  so I see what the next upgrade will be. Thanks again

Will let you know when I upgrade I hope it works because humminbird was $340.45 to fix it
