Navionics Platimum
« on: January 29, 2012, 03:58:15 PM »
Purchased an 898c SI last Spring and just saved enough money to buy Navionics SD card.  I'd like to buy the HotMaps Platinum 3D, but I'm finding conflicting information on compatability with my unit.  Does anyone use this card with my unit?

Humminbird shows that the 898 is compatible with the platinum chip, but I do know how well it will run on the 898.  I remember some folks having trouble because the chip ran so slow, maybe someone will let you know.

I have a platinum chip and do not use the 3D parts, if I made the purchase again I would purchase the premium chip and I have an 1197.

I would stick with the premium version also.

I second sticking to the premium versions.  I have the platinum version for the South region and the premium version of the East region.  So far as I can tell the only thing that the platinum version has is the 3D aerial maps which really is of no use to me.

Thanks for the info.  I think I'll get the premium.  I can't think of any use for the 3-D images anyway.  But it does look good on the ad.
