Title: Couple problems with Helix 10
Post by: fishinman on September 26, 2017, 11:03:30 PM
I have a Helix 10 SI GPS...moved it to the bow from console...
First, the depth in the readout box is different from the actual depth...ex:in 8' of water on sonar, but box may show 15'....doesn't do it every time when TM is deployed but most of the time...
Secondly, always shows a double bottom at the same time...
Thirdly, need to clean up some interference when ultrex is running... Power from unit is run straight to battery...ant ideas?
Have tried resetting defaults, but no help...
Thanks
Gary

Erratic depth seems to be prevalent with the newer units in shallow water over a hard bottom  ...

Some reports say Switchfire Clear, reduce 2d Sensitivity, Max Depth a little deeper than actual depth, and raise Surface Clutter to 6 or 7  ...

HB should be the best source for battling interference  ... They deal with customer's interference issues every day  ...

Thanks for reply.... Finally got thru to support...gonna try a ferrite ring for interference first...worked on my 998, but dropped it and broke it...think I may be getting cross talk from Mega on console...
Will try this next time on water...
Thanks again

Crosstalk interference from another unit is common with multiple units pinging at the same time  ...

Fortunately it's also the easiest to eliminate (by turning Sonar off the unit not being used)  ...
