Title: Which SD for Helix 12 Mega SI GPS Gen3?
Post by: Fly 1 on November 02, 2019, 08:32:57 AM
Hi Guys
Finally ponied up for a Helix 12 Mega SI GPS Gen3
My old unit is a 798 HD SI
With the plethora of cards out there I'm not sure which would be the best choice?
I'm guessing  16-32GB should be fine?
The other concern is which one, not make so much but which one?
for example
I see so far we now have,
SD - SDHC - SDXC
and class 2-4-6-10 (10 meaning minimum 10GB/s     How fast does one need in the device?)
The SDHC I guess is OK but not sure if the SDXC , research says  "must be compatible "

Your thoughts?
Regards,
Gary

HB can use maximum 32gb  ... They recommend the SanDisk brand  ...

Speed class is important only if you plan on doing a lot of recording  ... Faster write speed cards are more efficient at getting recording data written to the card without delays or possible lagging in unit function  ...

For Nav data management - faster white speeds are not as important  ...

SDXC are "extra capacity" cards and not compatible with HB units  ...

Much appreciated Ricky
Like to buy right once,
Might buy 32GB SDHC and a fast one, I guess for recording/auto-chart option
