A Primer maybe??
« on: September 13, 2009, 11:54:47 AM »
Robert

May I suggest as both a newbie on this board and new to HB SI operation that maybe someone with an understanding of the SI units, upgradeable HB units w/o SI, 3rd party and HB software, put together a primer on software issues. I purchased my 798ci hoping to produce some maps of non-charted lakes and streams. That now seems to be only a dream for the foreseeable future. Also include how and what HB output files can be manipulated and reinstalled into the units having MMC/SD cards. There is nothing in the HB manuals and to my knowledge anything on the net that is put together to cut through the facts and fiction that would help most of us understand what can be be done with these units outside of just running and viewing what is on the screen. As of now a user has to just read, read, read and experiment. Maybe That's a great teaching aid but also very frustrating. :(

Just my thoughts
Thanks
Jeff

You can combine  Humminbird pigtail output with DrDepth.   http://www.drdepth.se/download.html

I do that and it works great.
