Title: New Helix Update
Post by: Whistler on January 16, 2018, 05:56:06 PM
Helix update 1.610 is out for the Mega G2N systems (at least it is for my 12) .  Anyone brave enough to give it a go yet?  Seems to contain many new things...I'm almost too scared to try it based on my experience with 1.54.

HELIX 12 CHIRP MEGA SI GPS G2N (Version 1.610)
Release Date: 01/13/2018

Description:
NEW FEATURES

TALON shallow water anchor support – New TALON anchors can now be paired and fully controlled by HELIX G2N Series units via X-Press Menu and Power Menu.  For more details visit: https://www.minnkotamotors.com/Shallow-Water-Anchors/New-Talon/ (https://www.minnkotamotors.com/Shallow-Water-Anchors/New-Talon/)

Added a new Arrival Mode for i-Pilot Link - If an i-Pilot Link is paired to the Talon BT, all HELIX series units that are Ethernet capable will be able to select Auto Deploy Talon as an Arrival Mode

FishSmart 2.0 Support – FishSmart has been improved with a new look, improved chart navigation, and two huge new features:

You can now pair your smartphone with your HELIX G2N unit to download software updates directly onto internal hard-drive of the paired unit’s control head. You can also download software updates for additional units in your network by downloading files onto an SD card inside the paired unit. Once you have done that, you simply insert the SD card into your other unit(s) to update the software.
With your phone paired to your HELIX, you can purchase and download high definition LakeMaster maps from ChartSelect directly onto an SD card inserted in control head. LakeMaster maps from ChartSelect can be purchased via the FishSmart app with or without a ChartSelect account, but we advise customers to sign-up for a ChartSelect account and link it to your FishSmart app via the app’s System menu. LakeMaster maps on ChartSelect can be found at www.chartselect.humminbird.com (http://www.chartselect.humminbird.com).

Dual Spectrum CHIRP MEGA DI Transducer Support – The new MEGA DI transducers can be connected to – and are fully supported by – HELIX MEGA SI and HELIX MEGA DI models. These transducers, available as an add-on accessory, come in both transom mount and trolling motor mount versions and feature MEGA Down Imaging and a low-q high frequency CHIRP element for more defined fish marks.

710269-1

XM 9 MDI T

Transom Mount MDI Transducer

710270-1

XTM 9 MDI T

Trolling Motor MDI Transducer

General Fixes:

Fixed an issue that caused HELIX units to lose MAP access after receiving a picture on an Android 6.0 device.
Fixed an issue where HELIX SI units were getting a second return in the water column if Jigging Mode was ON.
Fixed an issue where text messages where being cleared (marked as read) on the users phone after a HELIX control head received the message.

I did it on a pair of gen 1 helix 10 and no issues so far, it did add time of day to the overlay version of the data display on left side of screen which is kind of handy

I currently have version1.460. Is this the newest version? If so, I'll download it along with the basemap.

I bought a new helix 7 g2n to be used for ice fishing in the winter and able to mount in boat during summer.  Unit had ver 1.350 .. updated to 1.610.   I guess the new version deletes the flasher screen.... the only screen I wanted.

Very frustrating.

Anyone have a copy of ver 1.540 that you could share?

I will post if I can find some info on your flasher view missing after the update  ...

I assume you did look thru the Views tab in the Main Menu System for the flasher view set as Visible  ...??

Oh yes and cleared and reformatted waypoint directories, also made sure units were not networked when restoring defaults , now bow unit has been finicky about networking to my console unit, but it is working pretty well after update and formatting nav directories, except for the new issue of occasional freezing up

After doing a little more research, I found the flasher screen.  I had to have the transducer connected and select ice fishing mode under the sonar tab i think?   All is good in the world now !

It may be a good idea to bring your waypoints into Humminbird PC and check for corrupt waypoints  ...

Look for erroneous dates, erroneous lat/long, etc  ...

These units also don't like waypoint names with spaces or special characters  ...
