Title: Helix 10 Chirp at High Speed?
Post by: Stickfish36 on June 13, 2017, 11:19:19 PM
I have a Helix 10 Chirp Mega SI, I added a xnt 920 for high speed 2D and the splitter cable. 1st time out I was surprised at how well it marked the bottom and how clear it was. I'm looking for advice on what settings I should play with to optimize marking schools of stripers on plane. I typically run 20-24mph in 25-60ft of water looking for scattered fish or schools. These stripers are generally 20-30 inch fish.

I'm thinking I should run the 180-225khz Chirp?

Chart speed at 10?

What about ping? 10?

Anyone with experience please help? Thanks

Definitely run Chart Speed at max  ...

You might be well served by running High/Medium split sonar where you can see more detail of the targets in the 180-225 narrower cone  ... and see more targets in the 75-95 wider cone  ...
-----

I'm not aware of a ping speed adjustment except when recording (ping speed can be slowed down during recording to allow Longer tracks to be recorded to an SD card)  ...
