998 c si power problem

my unit  powers off when scrolling thru screens with the view button my buddy has the exact same unit n his is doing the same thing  just started doing it no new software updates and my buddy has never done anything with his any help greatlty appreciated

You and your buddy may check the power supply connection on the units. there are many posts where these contacts lose connection and pressing on the unit buttons may cause enought flex to impede the contacts. There is a post (well many posts) where you slightly bend the male pin (ever so slightly and carefully) which will cause the pin and slot to make better contact.
Of course bending the pins you will want to remove any power to the cable from the battery.

i think i figured it out it seems to be working fine the problem was corupt waypoints i called humminbird but thanks for the help if you know anyone having the problem they need to save there waypoints to a sd card then delete eveything off the unit then download the waypoints to humminbird pc it will clean them and then you can put them back on your sd card and back to your unit its working now so we will find out in the morning when i go back out on the water

Thanks for the update. HB waypoints and supportive programs do funny things on the unit also. I seem to remember a while back power issues with waypoints.
Really weird how they can cause this power problem.
