997 internal clock
« on: February 06, 2010, 08:47:08 AM »
Hello, I'm new and have a question. I bought a brand new 997c. When i powered the unit up and went to the system status screen the internal clock had 3801 hours on it.
So far this has stumped a couple of people. I thought i might let the experts have a crack at explaining this one. Anyone here from Humminbird?
Thanks,
Eric

Hm, that is strange indeed for a brandnew unit!
Since you've asked this question, I figure you have suspicions that you have been ripped off by the seller.
How is the unit looking from the outside? Any signs of use there? What was the price for it? Was it a show room model?
Unless you've got it for an unbeatable price, I would send/give the unit back for a new replacement.

Regards / Harry

P.S.: I just powered mine up and checked. 280 hours and that fits.
YES,......

So send it back unless it was a bargain.
Just powerd mine up before boxing it for the rest of the wintersleep (frost is coming again).
It has 52 hours on it.

I am in contact with the seller. He is working to make it right. He nor the HB dealer he got the unit from can understand how this unit can show 3800 hours on the clock. It's very strange to say the least, but it is my luck. It seems everything i touch turns to crap.
I am getting a new head unit, but i'm still very curious how something like this could happen.

Sometimes units returned to the factory for repair end up giving the user a new replacement unit.   these units could be new or repaired units.  Although a returned unit that has been rebuilt should have all information reset to "0".  I would keep in touch with the dealer (seller) and the factory for resolution.  since this is a new unit to you you only have this serial number.  Remember when sending in a unit for repair to note the serial number.  Compare that to the unit which is returned to you.  I think the manufacture is supposed to inform you if your original has been replaced.  Keep this list informed of your actions and information concerning this subject.  Chuck
