Title: shipping unit for repair
Post by: buell1965 on January 04, 2016, 07:52:50 PM
UPS or FEDEX. I will have it packaged very secure. its a 1199 that I bought recently and it has a minor issue with the face plate cover fitting , I paid 1200.00 and my question is should I insure it for tht amount or more or should I insure it at all ? has anyone had any issues with sending and receiving their units due to miss handling by UPS or FEDX. thnks

I think insurance would be a good idea ...

You should not package the unit in the original box ...because it's unlikely you will get the box back (I've heard) ...

I would first call Humminbird customer support and see if they can send you a pre-paid mailing label.  I know they do it for units under warranty, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.
I'm not sure if I would get insurance.
I would however, pack the unit very well, so that if someone dropped the box, the unit
wouldn't get damaged.
