HumFinder v. 2.0 available
« on: June 04, 2010, 09:21:16 PM »
Hello everybody!

Latest HumFinder release can be downloaded from
http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/index.php?topic=783.0

I have developed HumFinder little bit further now and then and now it's time for version 2.0.

New features HumFinder v.2.0

- Display user selectable SI images of target area
     - Aspect ratio correction is used (vertical dimensions correlates with horizontal ones, with certain limitations)
     - Independently zoomable SI images
     - SI Images are pannable when zoomed
     - Image windows are resizeable
     - SI image color is user selectable
     - Measuring tool for measuring dimensions, object height estimation
     - Image copying, saving possibilities

- Search radius extended to 100 000 feet (30 000km). With 3000ft (1000m) and above only SI tracks are shown
- Abort button added to cancel search on time consuming operations
- Automatic comma separated position (Lat, Lon) tracking from clipboard. Can be used for example with HumViewer
- New position formats added
     [+,-]ddd[°].dddddd[N,S,W,E]
     [+,-]ddd[°] mm.mmmm['][N,S,W,E]
     [+,-]ddd mm['] ss.ssss["][N,S,W,E]
- Search speed is optimized (1.5x - 10x as compared to HumFinder v. 1.0 depending on search)
- Real target “hit” point recording time is shown

Some bug fixes done:

- Lat, Lon controls were multiline types causing erratic operation in if "enter" was pressed while editing values

- Tracks were limited to 25 different types causing error if exceeded, now max. is 125

And there is some known limitations:

- tested only in very limited environment

   Windows XP Professional SP2, SP3
   Windows Vista Business
   Humminbird 798ci SI, firmware 4.510, 4.780
   Google Earth v. 5.1.3533.1731
   LabView Runtime Engine 2009 (LVRTE90min.exe)

- cannot handle position formats starting with N,E,S,W

- target cursor max. number 50, 125 different tracks can be handled. ("Tracks only" mode has 1 different track)

- Google Earth position tracking won't work if HumFinder is maximized by user since "Show in Google Earth” operation

- Google Earth will occasionally give "installation" messages when opened by HumFinder - these can be cancelled by user

- if boat speed is very high, position information and SI data don't go apparently "hand in hand" causing shift in "hit" point

A brief Installation and Operating .pdf guide can be downloaded from:
ftp://sideimagingsoft.com/HumFinder_2.0_short_Installation_and_Operating_Guide.pdf

HumFinder v. 2.0 can be downloaded from:
ftp://sideimagingsoft.com/HumFinder_2.0.exe

For smaller screen sizes 1024x768 there is separate installer:
ftp://sideimagingsoft.com/HumFinder_2.0_(1024x768).exe

That wasn't a answer. It means By Two Which means i would like to know the answer as well. This is very common on most forums as it saves typing and bumps the thread up to the top

X2 of course  ;D just didn't think of it...
But another question, after succesfull upload and installation.. What specific file or directory I should click to get something opened in HumFinder. Moving the "/record/*/*" to different places doesn't help me???

Teddy,

you can just choose the /record/ directory (folder) under which your records are, so the search would be done for all the records under that directory.
You can make sub search to your SI records by selecting the desired folder or search from all the SI records by selecting  parent directory which contain all your SI records. It depend how you have organized your Humminbird records on your disc. If you choose the parent directory of /record/ the search is done to all records under that.
You don't need to move your HB records to new place.
If your records are in the desktop your search directory would be for example "C:\Users\Timo\Desktop"

Note also following from
http://sideimagingsoft.com/downloads/HumFinder/HumFinder_2.0_short_Installation_and_Operating_Guide.pdf

------------------

Default Humminbird folder and file names must used for the records i.e.
\RECORD\R00xxx.DAT
\RECORD\R00xxx\B002.IDX
\RECORD\R00xxx\B002.SON
\RECORD\R00xxx\B003.IDX
\RECORD\R00xxx\B003.SON
   .
   .
   .

-------------------
the same format HB unit stores the records to the SD card

Is your position information (lat, lon) right? If you use HumViewer to view your records, you can simply choose "Utilities" and from the drop down list "copy position to clipboard", hit the HumFinder "Search SI Records" button and you should have at least one track shown.
Note also that the "Search Radius" is as desired, if selected as 30ft, only tracks inside that area are shown

I am happy to try to help, if you still got any problems.

Regards,

Timo
