Humminbird_PC Recording
« on: December 16, 2009, 05:09:34 PM »
Could I get help on this matter.
I exported waypoints and recordings from my 1197 on a sd card.
Inserted into sd slot. Transferred data from sd to HBird_PC. Opened waypoint. Listed is waypoints and recordings.
1.  How do I transfer recording data from the Hbird_PC to say hardrive on C?
I downloaded the SIView. I cannot select the recording file because I cannot reach the recording.dat files.

Should I try other software?
What is the most popular software in terms of ease?

You will need a cardreader that will accept the SD card you have. I suggest getting one that will accept multiple cards and you can use it to transfer data from your digital camera as well. They are cheep and you can buy one at wallmart or target. Usually under 20 bucks. After you get one plug it in to your PC with the SD card inserted in it. Your puter should open it automaticly.
I can tell you how to save the file on your PC. Make a new file folder on your desk top.  to do this put your curser on the desk top and right click it. you want add new folder. You can point to that file folder on the desk top and right click it, choose remane file. Call it what you want i.e hummindird. Then you can click and drag the files into that folder and they will be permanently on your pc. I also put my viewing file in that folder it just makes it easier to find . Hope this helps.

which viewer do you use?
This is harder than I thought.
You would think the software developers at HBird would have developed their own software to run their own video. You think?
Not good for R&D.

Humminbird has not wanted to get into PC based software as this is not where our core business is at nor is it what the majority of our Customers use – however this could change in the future as the demand for it grows.  Its my understanding though that what may work on one PC will not work on all PCs due to the OS package they are running and also due to motherboard and other components used.  Some of the guys on here could explain this far better than I could.  It would take us hiring a Software Engineer who is fluent in PC (and Mac – not leaving you guys out…) based systems, not to mention having to train and educate our Customer Service folks on PC/Mac based issues as well.  Than I would bet that we would have to charge a pretty penny for the software to recoup our expenses.  Thinking of the Customer Service needed alone; it would be a stain on us as there are many out there that are not computer literate at all (and I’m claiming to be barely computer literate myself!).

Gary,

I would recommend you try a program named Hummviewer. It is free and links to it are under the software section of this website. It will playback the data recorded on the SD card. You will still need a card reader to connect the SD card to your computer or copy the files over.

It is the simplest way to review recordings on your computer at the present. There are converters that allow you to use other side scan software with other perks, but the process is more involved.

I hope this helps you and gets you what you want.

I use humviewer as well. It's really simpler than it sounds to do. All you have to do is plug the card reader into our puter with the sd card in it. Print my former instructions out and follow directions. Let us know if you need more help. Robert is our ilustreous leader an puter gurou. I'm sure he will chime in to help if needed.
