Lateral Side distance from boat
« on: August 25, 2009, 07:07:51 PM »
Robert, move this to another discussion topic area if you think it needs to be elsewhere.   Question to Martin.  for the side imaging :   are you using the tan when computing the lateral distance from the boat centerline?     I ask because I am looking at the silent part of the bottom not covered by the signal cone at 86 degrees?  This will tell me the uncovered area and where to run the parallel course on the next pass.  The humviewer shows the reading but I just wanted to make sure we were on the same calculation function.  Thanks, Chuck

I will leave it here for now since it really deals more with the beam coverage than the Humviewer.  The silent or dead zone under the boat is almost non existent using 455khz.

Here is an image that shows a pass over small boat showing on both beams eaqually.  At 800khz, the dead zone is very prevalent though.  I would not have seen the boat at all on this pass at 800khz.

OK, thanks, I will remember this on the 800 runs.  Chuck
