Title: shoot through Hull vs outside Hull- 788ci HD Di
Post by: TheSavant on March 08, 2015, 12:22:36 PM
I mounted my 788ci HD DI transducer to shoot through hull- manual and guys at HB said it would work fine, followed instruction, used their epoxy, etc.

These are some of the images I am getting- pretty sure I'm looking at standing timber, but the images just don't look clear enough to me.  Am I asking too much of this unit?  I was expecting to see "trees" not lines of dots..

Should I reconsider transducer placement?  If I do move it to outside the hull, am I going to get those pretty images that I see posted everywhere on the site  ;D

Thanks in advance-

Keith

If you mounted the transducer correctly, there should be very little difference between an inside-the-hull mounted transducer and a transom mounted transducer.

Do you have a Screen Snapshots of the above trees?
Any chance that you could cross-test with someone else that has a Humminbird DI model unit?

All I have are the above screenshots from humViewer. I can screenshot some examples the next time I am out.  I Don't know of anyone offhand to cross test my unit- but I will ask around.

It's encouraging that there should not be much difference. I will also try some different adjustments and see if it improves the clarity.

Thanks!
