I have an 1197Csi and an 898Csi that are connected via ethernet.  Both are running software version 6.18.  I have one SI and one high speed transducer mounted to my transom and both are connected to the 1197.  I have recently noticed that my depth readings in shallow water are showing double or triple actual depth with good double and triple echos showing up on the sonar at the same time.  Both units are displaying the same depth and it usually fixes itself at about 11 or 12 feet.  Anybody got any ideas on how to fix this?

Maybe your sensitivity is too high (in shallow water), and you are getting
multiple bounces from the sonar.
I guess this can happen on hard bottoms.

Shut the unit off  to see if this fixes this or not.  If it does than try turning on and up the Noise Filter feature on the unit that is showing the wrong depth.

If this is happening with only one unit running; see if it only happens when some other device on your boat is running (main motor, trolling motor, bilge, aerator…).

If that does not point to anything – try adjusting the Surface Clutter menu to a higher setting and if needed; set the Water Type menu to the Salt (deep) setting.

I adjusted surface clarity from 1 to 3 and the problem went away....
