Title: Chart Speed
Post by: Carl on July 11, 2010, 01:38:52 PM
Will the chart speed skew the si image any depending on its setting?  I usually keep mine on 4 and I'm usually running 3 to 3.5 mph.  Should I change my chart speed and what is the general rule if any?

general rule is chart speed = boat speed.
Chart speed will affect the display.

Good question!

So folks, lets say from what I see from others including myself, if I get much over 3 mph, I loose graph info on my side image.  So, what is the best speed, slower or faster or mid ways.

Thnx

As long as the chart speed is reflecting the return and comparable to the water speed then you should have good display and recording. If speed influences the return then of course you will have skewed displays.
Reference loss of signal over speeds of 6 to 10 mph.
