Don't think they are in any of the stores yet.

All the Helix models are ....stand alone....units.  They have no networking capability......This is part of the way they are able to reduce the cost.

My biggest concern is screen clarity. How does it compare to a 698?

Yes but only images if ordering the one with si only 455 kHz but if ordering di unit you get both 455/800 kHz its a baby 899  going to be epic for that price point

The are 480 vertical pixels, so as crisp a display as something like an 899/999 only 256 colors like a current 5" display (598/798) and the manuals are available for download here:
http://www.humminbird.com/Freshwater/Product-Category/Series/HELIX-Series/

The actual size of the CHO is 7.55" x 4.28" less the gimbal bracket. Overall height is 4.64" top to bottom.

Hello.  New to Humminbird, SD cards, GPS, etc...I previously just had a DI model.  I have ordered two of the new Helix Models.  For the SI model.  Since there is only one Micro SD slot, if I update to NAvionics, can I record on that card as well?  Is there anyway to have NAvionics and record on one micro sd card?  Thanks

You should NOT write data to a map card, as you run the risk of map data corruption.
There's yet another reason to buy a "more features" unit....
Unless Navionics has changed their policies - I wouldn't do it, but you might email their tech support and ask.
A member on another site said the called HB and the screen is supposed to be 3" tall and 4.6" wide.
I wish my old eyes were better!

Has anyone seen a new Helix series?
Here is a picture of the DI model that I ordered.  My SI model is still in the mail.  Both were on backorder.  I switched from a Lowrance Elite 5x DSI when I saw this HELIX series come out.  Just played around with it the first time today.  Happy with it so far.  Just thought you guys would like to see a photo that wasnt a stock photo.

SWEET!
If you have time, could you post a picture with something like a coke can or a quarter/dollar bill so we have a size comparison to scale??

Looks like a nice unit!!

I tried to tweak a copy for guys asking, and they can at least get an idea of the overall size - the water bottle is so reflective it blows out the detail of your fingers being seen clearly.
A dollar bill or even quarter by it would have been good, but at least it will help then decide!!
Thanks again....

I was looking at one of these also.  To replace a 2 year old crapped out 798 (GPS quit working).  The only problem I have is that the 798 only lasted not quite 2 years and can't figure out if even at this price point it is worth the cost??  I hate to go back to Lowrance because they're customer service was even worse than what Humminbird has become.  I originally was going to go with a 900 series at the bow and put the 798 up front, but again scared of the quality.  Anyone used an internal GPS antenna 900 series model for more than 3 years without issues?  Maybe I should forgo a discount on the product and purchase from BPS or Cabela's and buy the extended warranty??

I hate to promote the opposition, but Lowrance has fixed the customer problems created when Darryl sold his company. It took them about three years but they seem to be like the old company.  Now for HB, there are still issues with CS but they are getting better.
Some of the support problems are not so much the service rep but the changes that HB products goes thru without taking then time to fully train the support staff..  Also remember that these units are low end sonars and don't have a lot of R&D money.
Keep talking with the reps and work with them. keep the conversation friendly. Ask to be escalated to a higher level of support/management...
HB does have an offering and some of the units work well. Remember that a $1000 is not the $3000 unit nor do either one come close to a $50000 unit...
Try to work thru the issues with customer service and by all means keep your conversations flowing on this forum  A lot of the members have taken time to understand the HB family of products and with some very very knowledgeable of a specific unit...

HB customer support and the people that post/support this website are the reasons I'm with HB. This site is an excellent source of help with product
and operational guidance. Thanks to all that post.
