I just updated from 5.5 to 6.18 on my 898, and lost all my google earth tracks I use to make lake outline maps HB PC says all the points are there. Do I reinstall an earlier version or am I missing something?
-
Unless you intentionally deleted all NAV data, I would assume
that anything you had permanently saved would still be there.
I would turn your machine on and call HB customer support
and ask them to maneuver you through the menus to find
the saved tracks.

thunderbucket,
So after you updated the software on your 898 unit you downloaded the Nav Data to an SD memory card and than viewed that in HumminbirdPC, right?

There are issues with 6.180..
Can you go back 1 level until the 6.180 is fixed.
See if you have any problems then..

Update: ;D
Well i figured it out, tracks were there but not recognized, saved originals to a separate file and then ran them through gps babel into gpx. upload them manually from each track to a group of tracks i created load into my 898 and voila.. success
-
Congrstulations on success..
I am a bit confused. You had tracks before the uypgrade. After the upgrade the tracks would not show.
I am confused as to why you had to use bable to convert.
Were the tracks from google earth prior or something else.
If this is all HB data I dont understand the tracks having to go thru bable....
Thanks, Chuck

No it's google earth. Using track points to make a lake outline as my part of Manitoba doesn't have mapping yet. I upgraded from 5.5 to 6.18 also HB pc to 4.2 the waypoint management buggered up the Lake outline tracks not my trolling tracks.
Top it off with HB pc not having a add track button, it took a bit of playing around and ran my original kml files into gpx again and loaded each track manually into the group. fixed my issue but the waypoint management is a royal pain in the ass

Thunder. Thanks, now I understand the conversion.
Yep, waypoint management and tracks are a pain. 8)
Probably no end in sight as yet.. ::)

Yes
5.840/6.180 WMS has some track issues when you upgrade. Your problem was my problem:
