Minn Kota HB SI transducer install photos
« on: March 26, 2014, 12:15:29 PM »
Mike (aka: newkid4si) thought that this would make the start to a good topic so that others could post their images and experiences with installing a Humminbird Si transducer on a Minn Kota trolling motor.  Sort of a one-stop-shop post for someone looking for information on this.  So I am giving him a hand since his PC does not like to post pictures here.

Minn Kota Maxxum 55# bow mount TM
I called Transducer S&S to make sure I purchased the correct Shield.  Good move.  They said that this TM requires a modified Shield.  They sent me the model TM-HDsi modified + strip.  The modified + strip is a 3/16"x6" spacer attached to the top of the Shield.  My guess is this is to allow for the step between the motor and the housing that the skeg is attached to.  I went out and assembled everything before this post.  It does fit.  There is about 3/8" space between the back edge of the Shield and the leading edge of the prop.  My heart rate took a noticeable jump when I initially held the Shield in place as the rear slot for the straps looks to be too far back. It looked like the strap was going to hit the leading edge of the prop.  After assembly, the prop turns OK.

Installed. Zip tie is for transducer cable. 3/8” between rear of shield and prop. Straps were extra $6. ea.

Modification is shown on top. Plastic strip 1/4”x1”x6” securely fastened.

Top view of strip.

Straps are extra --$6. each.  Zip tie included.

Note “modified + strip” on card. Not sure if this is a standard product or you have to ask for it. Motor is a Minn Kota Maxxum 55# bow mount.  Great people to work with.  The motors with the skeg behind the Shield & Saver apparently DON’T have to use the strip according to the picture on the back of the card.  Check to make sure.

Thanks for taking the time to post this.I'm going to have to find one of the neighborhood kids to teach me how to post images.
