Topic: Losing signal

I have a 17' lowe aluminum bass boat and I always seem to lose my bottom signal anywhere from half to full throttle. MY boat only tops out at about 35mph, what could i do to try and prevent that from happening? The transducer is set up as per installation instructions, making sure a line of rivets, or rakes or anything are not in the way. Should i try and drop it lower than the bottom of the boat rather than not even?

There are several things that you can try:
1. Lowering the transducer in an attempt to get it under the aerated water that is flowing off the boat hull.
2. Angling the back end of the transducer very slightly, so that it will help guide that aerated water around and not under it.
3. Use some sort of spaced between the transducer and the transom in an effort to get the transducer farther away from the transom and into cleaner (air bubble free) water.
4. Mount a second transducer that is easier to locate in a clean water location due to it smaller size.  There are also inside-the-hull transducers (RadarSonic’s AlumaDucer) and we have a Stick-On transducer that mounts under the boat hull that may (or may not) work better.

Yenrec, check the forum media tab for installation pictures.
Check the search tab for losing depth or sonar above trollingn speed.
There is a lot of issue with the si transducers and bubbles.
Just check around the forum and see what othner have discovered.

The installation guide is just a guide for starting out. From there you probably have to adjust to try and find a sweet spot.  If none can be found, most opt to put a thru the hull 2nd transducer.

could anyone send me a link where i could view prices and possible purchase a RadarSonic’s AlumaDucer?
i googled it, got on their website, and nowhere on my mac can i see prices or an order form or anything. Shopping on google shows nothing. Are they no longer in business?

Try contacting RadarSonic directly for a list of retailers selling the AlumaDucer.
Bear in mind here that the AlumaDucer is an inside-the-hull transducer and will only work at higher boat speeds if you can mount it in a location that does not have air bubbles flowing across it.  The only way to know this for sure is to buy it, mount it and test it.
