Hey everyone, new to the group but I've had my 998 since 2013.
I have always updated the software. The current one for my unit, according to my profile and serial number on HB website, is v7.670
I have gone through many threads before posting so I can tell you that my user interface is set to ADVANCED and in my views menu where it actually does say SNAPSHOT and RECORDING is set to visible. When I hit menu twice and scroll over to that tab it only shows SNAPSHOT ON/OFF. No Sonar recording option.
I have tried different SD cards, I can take snapshots just fine.
The reason I am trying to get this working is because I now have AutoChart and would like to chart where I fish.
Thanks for any help

I just found this in the forum.

The screenshot you see with SNAPSHOT ON is what I see. There is no RECORDING option.
Anyhow, I tried the procedure as shown and it works that way. Just wish I had the RECORDING menu like everyone else does.

In a nutshell ...
*The Snapshot feature must be "enabled" under the Accessories tab ...
*The Recording feature is always "enabled" ...
a. A recording must be started with the Snapshot and Recording view showing on the display ...and press the "Menu" button one time to open the Snapshot and Recording Xpress "Menu" ... "Start Recording" is the 1st selection in the Xpress "Menu" choices ...
b. A recording can be stopped with any view showing on the display ... and press the "Menu" button one time to open an Xpress "Menu" ... "Stop Recording" is the 1st selection in the Xpress "Menu" choices ...
Once a Recording has been initiated, there will be a popup at the top of the screen every 3-5 seconds that says (RECORDING) ...
The recording must be stopped with the "Stop Recording" command for the recording to be usable ...

Thank you sir!
I wonder why my menu is different.
Anyway, at least I know now I need to record from within the Snapshot view.
Now for some water....

Once the recording is started from within the Snapshot and Recording view, you can change views as normal without affecting the recording ...
Stop Recording can be from the Xpress "Menu" of any view ...
