Please help a newbie get started....I'm going to update my profile with the units i have tomorrow, but how do i get started with the "upgrading" process. I bought a boat used, and has a 798 ( will know tomorrow which one..ci /ci si...) and a 597 on my terrova/ipilot.  How do I know what version software i'm running and if it needs upgrading? Can I register my units if the previous owner has already registered? Any other information is greatly appreciated

Yes, you may go to the HB web and register your units..
You unit will show you the system level if you go to the diagnostic screen (view).
Did you get a manual with your unit.
If not go to the HB web site and download the manual for your unit so you will have the written information on how to operate and view menus on your unit.
New (latest) updates are on this site under the download tab at the top.
You should also look at past posts on how to update the unit.  It is important..
