XIH 9 DI T on a 998c SI will it work?
« on: February 25, 2020, 09:18:14 AM »
Hi lads. Boat is on mooring,
Plugged the transducer in, I have depth.

Not been able to take the boat out to see if it reads the bottom correctly.

There is no selection for down image transducer in "transducer settings"

Humminbird XIH 9 DI T In Hull Transducer

Dual Beam 200/455 KHz, 20 degree cone angleDown imaging 400/600 KHz, 2 x 86 degree cone angle

I've had x 2 hd si transducers damage on me, wire pulling out of transducer, hence I was trying a DI in hull.

Wouldn't recommend it for use with a 998.  The 998 is a side imaging model and the DI is composed from the left and right SI beams.  The 998 does not have dedicated DI like a DI model and so doesn't have a setting for a DI transducer.  By connecting that transducer to the 998, it would only be using one of the SI channels (pins) on the connector.  When transmitting, you would be transmitting on an open SI channel (pin) not being used.  Over time, that could damage the unit.  To answer your question, it can work and people have done it but just not recommended on a long term basis.
