Title: transducer and gps receiver for 798c si
Post by: danieloverly on March 22, 2013, 01:01:23 PM
I have a 798c si and want to get the right transducer and gps receiver puck for it.
I am thinking of also geting 2nd HB either 898,998 or 1198 model
So, can I get a transducer that would work for all or any of these models. Also I have read that I could us a HD model transducer to improve picture quality. Is this possible?
On the gps receiver, at the HB sight it says that the GRP 408920-1 will not work with interlink. Is ther one that will ? And will the receiver work with all of the above models

The HDSI transducer will work with the 798 SI model. If your 798 is the 798 SI HD then you could connect your future HB with ethernet and share whatever GPS puck you end up with. The 798 does have a built-in GPS receiver.

OK, so the hd transducer will work. Do you know of a model # that would work for all of HB models, 798,898,998,and 1198?
And this model is not HD, so it does not have the either net conection and it is externa gps ready (does not have internal gps) so  can I still use interlink to connect them? thanks

The XHS-9-HDSi-180-T transducer will work with all of the unit models you mentioned.

The AS-GR50 or AS-GR16 GPS Receivers will work with all of the unit models you mentioned.  Humminbird stopped making the GR50 (it was replaced by the GRP), so you may have problems finding one.  The GRP will work with all of the units listed but their software will have to be 6.300 or higher – but it still will not work with the InterLink.

You can try InterLinking your 798c Si unit to one of the unit models you mentioned.  The units would need to be running the same level of software (level being the first number in the software version).  This should not be a problem though as the last update for your 798c Si should have been version 6.350.

Before connecting up the units to the InterLink:
 - I would make sure that both units are updated to whatever software level you are going to use.
 - I would also delete all Nav Data off both units.  You should save this data on your computer using HumminbirdPC and then re-upload it to the SD cards (selecting to “Replace” the Nav Data on them when you do the upload) when you get the InterLink network up and running.
