What depth are you working in and at what range?  Your best results will be in shallower water with the 800khz.  The best range setting for 800khz is 2.5 to 3 times your depth.  So if depth is 20', your range should be 50'-60' max.

800khz does not have the range that 455khz has, but the beam width is smaller and therefore the images will show more detail.

Read the FAQ on Best Settings for SI.
