I just installed my new humminbird 1198c SI... after taking my Lowrance back, which worked fine. I am a humminbird lover, but let a salesman talk me into the Lowrance and i regreted the decision so i took it back and got the 1198c SI and installed it. Now im about to snap because all im getting is a white blank screen. i can push the buttons and get sounds...as well as powering on and off sounds but no pic. Does anyone know whats up with this issue?

First thing you should do is checking the power connection to your unit.
Sounds like your unit isnt getting enough power to correctly start up.
Check fuse boxes etc.

Check your power connection sounds like you have it plugged in backwards. Gary

When you power up or down, hold the power button in a good 2 seconds.
Your battery may not be any good. Charge it fullly and load test it.
You could also ask the place where you bought it if you could bring it back and
hook it to one of their batteries to test it.

Thanks for all the suggestions, but i have tried 3 different batteries and also tried hooking up the wires backwards. The unit will not come on if you have the wires backwards, so thats not an option. My unit is coming on and by the sounds it makes and way it acts, the program is up and running i just cant see it. i think the screen is bad strait out of the box. I have hooked up many humminbirds and others and have never had any problems. ?????

josh i would call the vendor and have them send you a new unit. Gary

I think this is a problem with the 1198's. I have seen this before and it was a bad unit...
