Installing 2nd unit at console
« on: July 11, 2010, 07:15:37 PM »
I have 998 SI console and 858 bow interlinked.  They each have their own antenna.  When the interlink is working I can move my curser on the suide imaging over to a tree, put a waypoint and it shows up on the bow unit. Nice! I was thinking of putting a 2nd unit at the console to use only as a gps map.  It seems the interlink module has room for 3 units - correct?  So to do this all I need is power supply to the 2nd console and then connect it to the interlink module and chose one of the antennas I already have?  I saw that if 2 units share the same antenna it will be 4 times slower than each to have it's own antenna. If I take the antenna plug from the 998 SI unit and plug it to the new 2nd console unit, will I be able to enter a waypoint on the side imaging and it show up on the 2nd console unit?   What's my best setup for this?  Is it best to just get a 3rd antenna?

bass1958,

Welcome to the forum.  The Interlink can only be used to link two units together.  The third port is for a GPS receiver.   You can have a third unit, but it will not be able to sink with the interlink.

In order to get the Enhanced GPS refresh rate on all units, you will need two GPS receivers.  The 1st unit will have its own GPS receiver and then connected to port 1 of the Interlink.  The two bow units can be connected to the front GPS receiver with the AS-SYSLINK Cable, then one of those units will be connected to port 2 of the interlink.

Hope that helps.

I was wanting two at the console but I understand it would bethe same concept.
I guess I could get a card and download waypoints off one unit and upload them onto the other.
